Growin up lye soap was all we had. Grandma would would make lye from the wood ashes from the cook stove & the fireplace. She had a pale with a hole in the bottom. The pale would have alternating layers of hay & sand till the pale was half full then it was filled the rest of the way with ashes. Water would be poured over the ashes & drained through the hole into a small kettle. The drained water would be cooked till only small crystals was left then repeated several times till she had enough lye.

My experience is not a great one. I was excited to get real hand-made lye soap. I was so disappointed when I got it. It was a small mass of mush that had flecks of black debris in it. I tried to let it dry out, but it never would. The worst part is that it barely smelled like eucalyptus. It smell much more strongly of RANCID lard. I'm no stranger to hand-made soap, but this has to be the worst product I have ever received. What a waste of money. Thank goodness I only ordered one bar!

| Due to unfortunate
circumstances beyond our control we have temporarily
discontinued our Oatmeal Lye Soap.
High humidity and wet weather conditions in our area are
not allowing us to produce the quality we desire at this time.
As weather conditions change our goal is to begin producing
the Oatmeal Soap as soon as possible once again. This only
affects our Oatmeal Soap and not any of the others. Everything
else is still available.
Keep a close watch on the website for its return.
